Almost six years later, the week of the organizations’ annual Center Stage gala, PromoHomo.TV® broadcasts an historic encore presentation of The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert’s dedication of their McDonald/Wright Building, as originally livestreamed by Nicholas Snow on his personal Facebook page November 13, 2016 – just six days after Trump was elected President.

Following the festivities, Barry Dayton wrote for Medium.com, “On Sunday, November 13, 2016, a crowd of more than 400 supporters visited the new headquarters of the LGBT Community Center of the Desert at 1301 N. Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, California… The new home was made possible in large part by the generosity of John McDonald and Rob Wright, supported by the more than 500 donors of the still-continuing $3.5 million capital campaign that financed renovations and improvements to the space.”

Since then, The Center has in fact realized its dream of remodeling and occupying the entire 10,000 square foot building (they had a post-pandemic grand reopening ceremony), and they have expanded into the Eastern Coachella Valley as well, with a location in downtown Coachella.

At TheCenterCV.org, they explain, “At the Center, our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all members of our vibrant LGBTQ community. Come join us at The Center, a space where you can belong and be unconditionally you.”

Their Vision, “to create a vibrant community of love and support that stretches beyond our Center’s doors, where we strive to meet all members of the LGBTQ community where they are and provide them the services they need to thrive.”

Their Mission, “to provide an open and welcoming environment for all members of the LGBTQ family. Through the use of our individual lived experiences and collective power, we host community events, assistance programs, and various other forms of support in our efforts to create a loving community where everyone belongs.”

Their values:

Integrity: We do what’s right and stand by our values to support and provide assistance to our LGBTQ Community.

Equity: Any and all are welcome at The Center. Caring for our community is of utmost priority, and we will never deny assistance to whomever comes through our doors.

Joy: Our community’s happiness is our happiness. We find joy in building the LGBTQ community up and we strive to deliver that joy in every aspect at The Center.

At the Center, our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all members of our vibrant LGBTQ community. Come join us at The Center, a space where you can belong and be unconditionally you.
