Jeffrey Bernstein is running for Palm Springs City Council in District 2 and, in the homestretch to the November 8th election with mail-in voting already underway, he drops by The Nicholas Snow Show for an exclusive PromoHomo.TV® interview. Snow, who lives in District 2 and has endorsed Bernstein, has extended an invitation to Renee Brown (the other candidate in this race) via her campaign website to appear on his show as well.

Explains Bernstein at www.jeffreyForPS.com

As the founder and managing partner of Destination PSP, a successful retail business in downtown Palm Springs, I will become the only business owner and employer on the Palm Springs City Council. Two of the most important drivers of our local economy are its unique retail and our world class hospitality; I bring important experience in both.

I am also the elected retail member of the Board of Directors of Visit Greater Palm Springs, our Convention and Visitors Bureau, an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Palm Springs Hospitality Association, a former member of the Board of Directors of Main Street Palm Springs, a member of the Bureau of Tourism Strategic Advisory Committee, and a founding member of the Palm Springs Roundtable.

In each of those roles, my expertise and time is volunteered to help improve the quality of life for all residents, help grow our economy, create jobs, and make Palm Springs the very special place that it is to live.

In addition to my business acumen, I bring deep community ties and involvement as Chairperson of the City of Palm Springs Measure J Oversight Commission and a founding member and Chair of the Palm Springs Sister City Committee.

Personally, and through my business, I have worked extensively on partnerships with local non-profit organizations including AIDS Assistance Program and Food Samaritans, Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs, DAP Health, Desert Arc, Greater Palm Springs Pride, Human Rights Campaign, LGBT Community Center of the Desert, Modernism Week, Palm Springs Preservation Foundation, PS Modcom, The Palm Springs Animal Shelter, The Palm Springs Cultural Center, The Palm Springs International Film Society, The Palm Springs Library and others. My strongly held belief is that businesses have an obligation towards social good and the importance of paying forward the support of the community.

Along with my partner of twenty years, Dr. Oscar Chamudes, a retired pediatrician from Chile, we moved to Palm Springs in 2009 from New York City. In 2012 we adopted our shelter dog, Archie. In 2014 we were married by Rabbi Sally Olins in the Palm Springs Art Museum, the same day that we both celebrated becoming a Bar Mitzvah at Temple Isaiah. We reside in the Oasis del Sol neighborhood of Palm Springs.

Prior to moving to Palm Springs, I spent 25 years in the television industry, launched my own e-commerce business, owned and operated a restaurant, and founded Cable Positive, a national AIDS awareness organization.
