Jeffrey Bernstein Launches Re-Election Bid

Palm Springs City Councilmember Jeffrey Bernstein has launched his bid for re-election, and in this episode of Hot in Palm Springs, Nicholas Snow brings you coverage from Bernstein’s campaign kickoff event at Boozehounds Palm Springs on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer introduced Bernstein during the gathering of supporters and community members.

The following overview reflects themes from Bernstein’s written campaign statement published at JeffreyForPS.com. During the event itself, Bernstein addressed several similar points while also expanding on additional topics in his remarks.

In his statement, Bernstein reflected on his connection to Palm Springs, noting that he and Oscar decided to make the city their home after only two visits. Sixteen years later, he said, that commitment to the community remains strong.

Reflecting on his first term representing District 2, Bernstein highlighted a range of accomplishments achieved alongside his colleagues on the Palm Springs City Council. He cited investments in road paving, the construction of five new playgrounds, groundbreaking for the Palm Springs Library renovation and pickleball courts, and upgrades to the city’s swim center and other recreational facilities.

He also pointed to the completion of three affordable housing developments and the opening of the Navigation Center, which provides support and services to unhoused residents working toward stability. Bernstein said affordable housing and addressing homelessness remain key priorities moving forward.

Bernstein also highlighted the beginning of construction on the College of the Desert Palm Springs campus, describing it as an investment in the city’s future and opportunities for younger generations.

Looking ahead, Bernstein emphasized economic development initiatives focused on four sectors he believes can help strengthen Palm Springs’ year-round economy: Arts & Culture, Tech, Clean Energy, and Healthcare. He also highlighted the importance of a citywide shade and heat mitigation plan and a city technology plan designed to improve services and streamline city operations.

With those priorities in mind, Bernstein announced that he will run for re-election to the Palm Springs City Council in November 2026.
