The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert proudly announces this year’s Center Stage gala, themed ‘Creating Community. Making Magic.’, presented by Eisenhower Health. The unforgettable evening will showcase The Center’s lifesaving work and celebrate the vibrancy of our LGBTQ+ desert community. All funds raised benefit The Center. The Center CEO, Mike Thompson (pictured) states: “I hope you’ll join us on Saturday, October 19th where we’ll highlight the magic that is the work of The Center day in and day out, honor philanthropists John McDonald & Rob Wright with our Legacy Award, recognize Arnie Kassoy’s visionary gift to The Center, and welcome this year’s American Idol Winner, Abi Carter, as our musical guest sponsored by Silvercrest!”
John McDonald & Rob Wright will be recognized for the lasting impact of their contributions to the desert’s LGBTQ+ community, as well as their national influence, with our Legacy Award. In addition to their support of The Center, John & Rob have been longtime philanthropists and advocates for our community, championing such organizations as the Los Angeles LGBT Center and the Williams Institute at UCLA.
Another inspiring supporter of The Center and its work, Arnie Kassoy, will be recognized for his extraordinary gift to The Center. With the purchase and donation of more than 33,000 square feet of land that straddles major transportation arteries Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives, the future home of The Center’s Arnold Kassoy Campus will be located directly across the street from our Palm Springs McDonald Wright Building.
The evening will climax with a stellar musical performance from recent American Idol Winner and local Coachella Valley native, Abi Carter. Amid the altruism, excitement and pure joy of this evening, it is destined to become a treasured memory for everyone in attendance.
