Fuhr first visited the Coachella Valley on an LGBT fam trip (a familiarization trip for journalists and other media/marketing types) in 2001 from his then home in Chicago. After moving to LA in 2005, he set his sights on owning property and moved full time to the desert in 2012.
Brad consulted Palm Springs Life and San Diego Magazine as well as Frontiers magazine on their digital media and sales strategy. It was that experience that gave him the light-bulb moment for his LGBT-centric business. He launched GayDesertGuide.com on Labor Day weekend 2013. He also operates Oasis Marketing Group, a digital and social media agency.
Fuhr was recognized by the Desert Business Association as 2015 Business of the Year and in 2018 as Business Person of the Year. The City of Palm Springs Human Rights Commission honored him with their Community Service Award for “Promoting Universal Human Rights Closer to Home” in February, 2018. He used the award to springboard into starting at Gay4Good community service organization chapter in Greater Palm Springs.
