PALM SPRINGS AIDS MEMORIAL: A 14-YEAR JOURNEY TO THE 2026 WORLD AIDS DAY DEDICATION
After 14 years of perseverance, community advocacy, artistic vision, and a commitment to remembrance, the long-awaited Palm Springs AIDS Memorial is approaching its historic dedication on December 1, 2026—World AIDS Day.
In this special episode of PromoHomo.TV®, creator, producer, and host Nicholas Snow previews the upcoming dedication and presents an encore of the historic groundbreaking ceremony, originally broadcast live from Palm Springs Downtown Park on December 1, 2025.
A MEMORIAL ROOTED IN HISTORY
Palm Springs holds a profound place in the history of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. During the darkest years of the crisis, many people living with HIV/AIDS found refuge, compassion, and community in the Coachella Valley. Countless lives were lost, while survivors, caregivers, partners, families, friends, and advocates helped shape the extraordinary community that exists today.
First envisioned in 2012, the Palm Springs AIDS Memorial has been years in the making. Its journey has included fundraising, public dialogue, artistic evolution, and a determination to create a permanent place where grief, remembrance, love, and hope can coexist.
WELL OF LOVE: FOREVER REMEMBERED, FOREVER LOVED, FOREVER CELEBRATED
Designed by internationally acclaimed Coachella Valley artist Phillip K. Smith III, the memorial is titled Well of Love.
Rising approximately 11 feet, the sculpture incorporates reflective surfaces and rippling forms symbolizing pools of tears. Its three guiding messages—Forever Remembered, Forever Loved, and Forever Celebrated—honor those lost to AIDS, those living with HIV, and the people whose compassion and activism transformed lives.
Located in Downtown Park at Belardo Road and Museum Way, the memorial is also envisioned as an evolving educational experience, connecting visitors with personal stories, historical information, and resources through a digital component.

FROM GROUNDBREAKING TO DEDICATION
On December 1, 2025, community members, organizers, supporters, and public officials gathered for the memorial's historic groundbreaking. PromoHomo.TV® broadcast the ceremony live, preserving an important chapter in Palm Springs LGBTQ+ history.
Now, as the community looks toward the scheduled December 1, 2026 dedication and unveiling, we revisit that remarkable gathering through an encore presentation of our original broadcast.
The memorial is more than a monument. It is a promise that the people, struggles, resilience, and love that defined generations will never be forgotten.
