In the midst of this very dark time in U.S. history as radical right wing haters and their followers are doing everything they can to stoke fear of the LGBTQ+ communities, in particular, transgender people and drag performers, lie have lie has been told about the Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, many of whom join this episode of The Nicholas Snow Show on PromoHomo.TV® to set the record straight, so to speak.
The Sisters of Perpetual indulgence was first manifested in San Francisco in 1979, and they’re celebrating their 44th anniversary. The Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence was established in 1996, and they’re celebrating their 27th anniversary.
Their mission statement:
- We are a worldwide order of forward thinking nuns, we are not religious, but moral and ethical by nature.
- We exist to promulgate universal joy, abolish systematic guilt and hate, through public manifestation and habitual perpetration.
- We incorporate as a 501C3, and raise funds in a grass root manner for the underprivileged.
We all volunteer without discriminations to creed, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation nor labels which divide us. - We congregate and serve the communities we live in, where there is one nun all of us are.
Right wing haters would have you believe you otherwise, and waged a hate campaign which resulted in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization rescinding their invitation to the Sisters to be honored at their annual Pride Night. Ultimately a firestorm erupted, the global LGBTQ+ community responded, and the Los Angeles Dodgers organization backtracked, releasing this statement:
“After much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities, honest conversations within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Los Angeles Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their friends and families.
We have asked the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to take their place on the field at our 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night on June 16th. We are pleased to share they have agreed to receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.
In the weeks ahead, we will continue to work with our LGBTQ+ partners to better educate ourselves, find ways to strengthen the ties that bind and use our platform to support all of our fans who make up the diversity of the Dodgers family.”
The 10th annual Los Angeles Dodgers Pride Night has come and gone, so let’s learn how it went, share the truth, and expose the lies behind the hate.
