As enforced by founder and curator Raymond Lafleur, the GAY MEN OF PALM SPRINGS CA Facebook Group is NOT “a dating page or a place to find your special guy…posts advertising for a mate will be deleted.” Created February 13, 2012, and now boasting 16,700 members, is “a place to meet and network with other men of Palm Springs, California and to learn of local events in the Gay Community.”
Note: If you search for the group on Facebook, look for the GAY MEN OF PALM SPRINGS CA that appears in all capital letters, as there is another group of the same name using lowercase letters.

In Nicholas Snow’s opinion, one reason for the group’s success is that it is highly curated and he beleives, that for Lafleur, who is supposedly “retired”, being the admin must be a full-time volunteer endeavor. And while the group is online, people meet in the real world consistently at many places, including at the monthly mixer at PS AIR BAR & LOUNGE (www.psairbar.com).
In this episode, Snow welcome Lefleur to discuss the power and influence of the group, and the 16,000+ members have been invited to view live and comment with their perspectives, and many of the comments will be curated into the live broadcasts.
